Katy Mills Mall is a shopping complex located at 5000 Katy Mills Circle in Katy, Texas. It opened in 1999 and has a wide range of stores and services, which have included a sporting goods store, eateries, bookstores, a music store and much more.
Jillian's is a restaurant and entertainment chain that was started in 1985 and had multiple locations that spread over the United States and Canada. Their locations usually had several dozen pinball, arcade, and video games that ran on prepaid "Player Cards".
The Jillian's at the Katy Mills Mall location was one of the original locations to open with the Mall. As the Jillian's brand entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy, it had to sell off its assets, resulting in locations (such as this one) to close.
- Gauntlet Legends
- Star Wars Trilogy Arcade
- Mech game of some sort
- Racing game of some sort
- Multiple other video, pinball, and arcade machines
The Mech game was a self-contained capsule that players could climb into, shut the door to the unit, and be totally immersed in the game, which involved hunting down and destroying other mechs. The capsules were all interconnected, each of which could house one player. There were 11 units, which meant up to 11 players could play at once. If there was only one player available that wanted to play, the game room attendant would climb into another unit so the player could have an opponent (since the game had no computer A. I.). Players had to pay the attendant in advance, rather than inputing their Player's Card into a slot on the unit. Players would get a printout of what happened during the game they played after their game was over. These units were taken out after a while, presumably due to not making much money, and the arcade closed several years later.
